The New Forest
In July 2013 we spent a week in and around the New Forest in Hampshire, England.
We stayed in Lymington.
The New Forest is home to many species of creatures and habitats that we don’t have
in our own home county.
At the time we went, there were thousands of silver-studded blue butterflies on the
heaths - a fantastic sight to see!
We also saw a few dragonflies that we don’t have locally, notably the beautiful demoiselle,
golden-ringed dragonfly and the keeled skimmer.
This photo shows some of the New Forest ponies come to drink at the pond near Holmesley;
there are yellow water lilies in the foreground.
